Duszak Family Lights
Ever since I was little I remember wanting to know how things work. Im sure allot of people do but I took it a little further then most.
I also have always enjoyed decorating for Halloween and Christmas and a few years ago I saw an email with lights that appeared to play in time to music.
The next day I looked into figuring out first if that display was real and when I found out it was tried to figure out how he did it. He did it using commercial hardware and software and when looking into what he used I knew there had to be a cheaper alternative.
I decided to research and build my own pic based dimmers and I needed to build a lot of them.
I spent most of 2008 figuring out how to make the show work and building all the features and programming the show. It was right down to the wire and though most of the show had been tested and running there were some issues and I did not test some components of the show until thirty minutes before opening night. Not only did it go off without a hitch, a firetruck rolled through in front of our opening night crowd carrying Santa. Everyone thought we set it up but it was just random luck.
Anyway, if anyone else likes to take things apart and truly understand how things work and do not give up until they can do it themselves, this is a lot of fun but more time comsuming then you can imagine. This is just one way I like to show my creativity and with the approval of my wife I hope to continue doing Bigger and Brighter shows in the years to come!
